We are all Jimmy

Look back in anger is a play by John Osborn; it tells the story of a young worker discontented man called Jimmy Porter who is married to Alison, a high-class woman. They live with Cliff, a friend of both who bring the peace to a violent and trouble relationship which is characterized by Jimmy always criticizing everything that his wife does. This is what is actually happening in our country nowadays, people seem to be angry and criticizing everything but why are we so angry?

As you read the play, you start to realize that Jimmy is a violet character, he hates his wife's family and friends and it’s constantly talking bad about them in order to bother his wife. Although you may think that he hates them just for the fact that they have money and he does not, i actually believed that he hates them because they represent something that he has never known and as a human being he rejects everything that he does not know.  

The fact that Jimmy seems to be a well-educated in something to pay attention to, in nowadays it is much easier to have a good education that it was years ago, moreover the possibility of having thousand of information on internet is making people to realize that read and receive and education is en extremely good tool in order to be aware of what is really happening out there. People is starting to realize that they can express themselves if they do not like something. So is it anger always a bad thing? 

Anger could be a good thing, since it seems to make the people fight for what they think is not fair, the problem is that like Jimmy said in the book “I suppose people of out generation aren’t able to die for good causes any longer. We had all that done for us, in the thirties and the forties, when we were still kids… There aren’t any good, brave causes left” 

I completely agree with this since I believe that our generation is so upset with everything because we did not experience the struggle that elder people did, they had to fight to have what we have for free now. As we haven’t gone trough that experienced we believed that we have to be given everything that we deserved, and when that do not happen we get upset.

As a conclusion I can say that anger is not always a bad thing, there are thousand or reasons for people to be upset these days; the bad jobs, the low salary, the overpriced food, maybe the reason is that you had a terrible experienced in the past, like Jimmy who had to watch is father die. it does not matter, as long as you used anger in a good way as a reason to fight for what you think is right you should be honored to be called an “angry young men".
