20 centuries for peace?

I suggest that you watch this Iron Maiden music video since it depicts the battle of passchendaele which was fought during WW1. All the showed images in it are from "Passchendaele" the movie.

- How fascinating is the way in which Yeats put into words the decadency in which we are living nowaday in his famous poem "The second coming". The mention of the falcon flying far away, so far away that it cannot hear his falconeer. To my mind, the falcon represents the human soul going away and falling off  the world's end, from where not even God could summon it back.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer" (Yeats, 1994).

Think about the virtues of the human race going up and round, faster and faster, up to a point in which chaos takes over and all the righteousness is taken away from us.

In the awaken of a beast who feasts on our twisted wit, a beast that spits fire and steel, whose breath is poisonous gas. Showing no mercy whether its victims are innocent or not.

"And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?" (Yeats, 1994)

Who but ourselves can save us from an inevitable ending?

In today's world, the majority of people think that apocalipse is at the turn of the corner, while self-proclaimed prophets play darts in an attempt to predict when the judgment day will come.

Few are the ones who faithfully stick to the code. It seems easier to stick to the cult of "mind your own business" and "every man for himself", however, that apathy, sooner than later, will come to knock on our door because the gears of apocalipse are already moving, while we are looking at ourselves in the mirror.

Coming back to Yeats' poem, Do we really have to wait a second or third coming for things to change? Do we actually have enough time?
Or will the sands of time fall upon and bury us while we are sitting on the couch watching television or surfing the net?

  1. To answer your questions, I truly belive that is up to us to make this world change for good. We had have enough corruptcy and lies to depend on others, now is our turn to make the next cycle of the gyrus a better place to live, because maybe we are living the chaos, the appocalyse and nothing worse can happen after this.

  2. In our hands dwell the destiny of us, we has human kinds have the power and the tool to make this world a better place to live, nevertheless, humanity does not know how to use them. We are living in an era where knowing about the dress that famous people will use tomorrow is more important than culture, perhaps this is the beginning of an era where ignorance rules and our thoughts are less important than superficial facts. If at least one of us is fighting against this era, there will still be hope for a change, one man with an amazing idea will always be able change the reality. Good thoughts Juan Pablo!
